Classroom Expectations:

Your attendance is expected every day. Many or all of you have roles in plays in this class. If you are not in class the ensemble will suffer as we will not be able to rehearse. Absence from class will adversely affect your progress in this class and will cause the director to recast your role. Please do not check in late to this class and please remember to schedule Dr. Appts etc. after school or in the afternoons.

A student may be dismissed from a role in a play if they have excessive absences, excused or unexcused.

As this is an auditioned class, you have been chosen to be a part of this ensemble. In this class you will be rehearsing and producing shows as well as the showcase pieces. You will all be actively involved in all shows in some capacity. Dates are on your production calendar. ALL DATES ARE MANDATORY! Please check your calendar today and make sure you can commit to the dates required of you. Please see the Theatre Handbook for attendance policies.

Class Requirements: (required as part of your grade)

  1. You must attend at least one performance of every theatrical event produced at Milton this semester. Attendance equals a test grade.

  2. Your class will be producing performances each semester. Dates and Titles are to be determined. You are required to be actively involved in any and all shows either as a cast or crew member.

  3. You are required to attend the Showcase Performance at 7:00 p.m. on December 10th.

  4. You are required to help with the Talent Show and rehearsal, September 24th and 25th.

Please see the Theatre Handbook for additional opportunities/requirements.

Course Description :

Advanced Drama is a performance/participation based class in which each student will participate in theatre as both a performer and technician. In the class students will rehearse, and tech a show. If not actively involved in the cast of a show the student will be working on a technical element of some kind. Some students in the class will serve as stage managers or full time theatre technicians and will be required to fulfill the duties of their assignment.

Recovery Policy

Opportunities designed to allow students to recover from a low or failing cumulative grade will be allowed when all work required to date has been completed and the student has demonstrated a legitimate effort to meet all course requirements including attendance. Students should contact the teacher concerning recovery opportunities. Teachers are expected to establish a reasonable time period for recovery work to be completed during the semester. All recovery work must be directly related to course objectives and must be completed ten school days prior to the end of the semester. Teachers will determine when and how students with extenuating circumstances may improve their grades.
