of

Milton Actors Support Krew (MASK)

adopted
February 1, 2007

ARTICLE I: NAME

The name of this organization is Milton Actors Support Krew, aka MASK. It is the Parent/Booster support organization of the Milton High School Drama Department.

 

ARTICLE II: PURPOSES

We are committed to the belief that participation in live theatre is one of the broadest and most enriching educational experiences that can be offered to young people., combining the cultural and practical values of literature, music, dance, technical crafts, teamwork, responsibility, mutual respect, self-esteem and confidence.

The mission of this parent/booster group is as follows:

  1. To enhance the learning opportunities and professional development opportunities for students at Milton High School in the dramatic arts.

  2. To foster collaboration among families, staff, and community for the benefit of the students involved in dramatic arts at Milton High School.

  3. To support and promote dramatic theatre productions by the students of Milton High School through voluntary assistance of parents with the wide variety of tasks attendant to staging student theatre productions and with fund raising efforts such as concession sales, ad sales, soliciting community support and memberships.

 

ARTICLE III: MEMBERSHIP

Membership in MASK is open to all parents/guardians, and interested adult community members.

Section 1. The Executive Board shall establish the annual dues of MASK.

Section 2. Memberships are not transferable.

Section 3. Membership dues may be waived at the discretion of the Executive Board.

 

ARTICLE IV: OFFICERS AND ELECTIONS

Section 1. The officers of this organization shall consist of:

  1. Co-Presidents; 1 parent of a Junior and 1 parent of a Senior

  2. Vice President

  3. Secretary

  4. Treasurer

  5. The members may also nominate and elect one Student Representative to act as liaison between MASK and the drama students.

Section 2. Officers and two Executive Board members shall be elected as follows:

  1. The Co-Presidents are elected for a 2 year term. the parent of the junior student     will automatically assume the position of senior parent co-president in year 2.

  2. Parents/Guardians of current Milton High School Drama students interested in holding any office, other than Senior Co-President, should declare their intention at the April meeting. Two people could shard positions, if it is mutually agreeable and they are elected together. The election will be held at the May meeting. Officers will assume their duties in May following the May election. with the exception of Junior Co-President, the term of office will be one year.

ARTICLE V: DUTIES OF OFFICERS

Section 1. The Co-Presidents shall share the following:

  1. prepare the agenda of all meetings;

  2. preside at all MASK meetings;

  3. coordinate the work of the officers and committees of MASK in order that the purposes of the organization may be promoted and the annual goals may be achieved;

  4. appoint individual(s) to fill vacated position(s) on the Executive Board through the end of the current term of office;

  5. perform other duties as may be assigned by the organization

 

Section 2. The Secretary shall:

  1. record and publish the minutes of each meeting;

  2. perform any correspondence necessary for the organization;

  3. send out all necessary notices of meetings of the organization;

  4. perform other duties as assigned by the organization

 

Section 3. The Treasurer shall:

  1. collect all membership dues;

  2. have custody of all the funds of the organization;

  3. keep a full and accurate account of receipts and expenditures;

  4. make disbursements as authorized by the President, Executive Board, or organization in accordance with the budget;

  5. present a financial statement at every meeting of the organization and at other times when requested by the Executive Board;

  6. make a full report at the meeting at which new officers assume their duties, to include a copy of the current bank statement;

  7. perform other duties as assigned by the organization

Section 4.

Upon expiration of the term of office or in case of resignation, each officer will turn over to the successor, without delay, all records, books, and other materials pertaining to the office.

 

ARTICLE VI: EXECUTIVE BOARD

Section 1.

The Executive Board shall consist of the elected officers of the organization, 2 additional elected parent members and the current Milton High School Theatre Director.

Section 2. The duties of the Executive Board shall be:

  1. to prepare and submit to the organization for adoption, a budget for the year;
  2. to set annual goals, with input from the membership of the organization;
  3. to draw up amendments to the by-laws, which would then be brought to the membership for a vote;
  4. to approve expenses over $1000.00
  5. to conduct business matters of a timely nature in the intervals between organization meetings

Section 3.

Regular meetings of the Executive Board shall be held during the school year, to be established by the Board at its first meeting of the year.

 

ARTICLE VII: MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS

Section 1.

Regular meetings of the organization shall be held monthly during the school year.

Section 2.

Special meetings of the organization may be called by the President or by a majority of the Executive Board.

Section 3.

The election meeting shall be held in May.

Section 4.

All members in good standing of the organization, present at any regular meeting of the membership, shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business requiring a vote of the membership.

Section 5.

A simple majority will pass any business items requiring a vote.

 

ARTICLE IX: COMMITTEES

Section 1.

Committee chairpersons shall report on their activities at membership meetings and at such other times as directed by the President. The chairman of all standing committees shall be elected by members of such committee and shall hold office until relieved by their successors. All committee chairpersons should prepare a written report summarizing their respective committee's activities during their term of office.

Section 2. The following standing committees include, but are not limited to:

  1. Fund-raising
  2. Concessions
  3. Publicity and Promotions
  4. Awards Dinner
  5. Ticket Sales

Section 3. The following positions will also be filled:

  1. volunteer coordinator
  2. Web Master
  3. Playbill Coordinator

Section 4.

Ad-hoc committees may be appointed at the discretion of the Co-Presidents. Such committees shall remain active until they have accomplished the purposes for which they were appointed or until inauguration of the succeeding President.

 

ARTICLE X: AMENDING THE BY-LAWS

Section 1.

The by-laws may be amended at any general meeting by a two-thirds vote of the members in good standing present, provided that notice of the proposed amendment(s) has been sent to the members at least one month in advance of the meeting.

 

ARTICLE XI: POLICIES

This organization will comply with all Fulton County Schools polices and guidelines relative to booster clubs/parent organizations.
